Adventure from your home! But how ?
17 03 2021
From April 19 to 22, 2021, Val d’Isère is organizing its 24th International Adventure & Discovery Film Festival online.
Online festival – how does it work?
This 24th edition of the International Adventure & Discovery Film Festival will take place online and live from April 19 to 22, 2021 on the www.festival-aventure-et-decouverte.com. In digital version, the Festival is exceptionally presented by director and explorer Stéphane Dugast, who willingly slips into the role of presenter Sylvain Tesson, whose disconnection for lifestyle is antagonistic to the format.
Each evening, 3 of the 11 films in the official selection are broadcast for free via the festival site and the traditional discussion with the adventurers is broadcast live after each film. The public can ask questions about the films via social networks, Stéphane Dugast will cover some of them during the exchange with the adventurer or the director present on the stage. After each broadcast, the public is invited to vote for each film on the Festival’s website in order to award the Audience Prize. This year only the Audience Prize and the Espoir Titra Film Prize will be awarded during the awards ceremony on Thursday 22 April. This Espoir Titra Film Prize is awarded by the production company Titra Film to a first production.
Stéphane Dugast – explorer director
Secretary General of the Society of French Explorers, Stéphane Dugast shares his adventures around the world. At the same time journalist reporter, author and director, he travels the oceans, deserts, wild spaces but also mythical roads, the polar world. He notably writes the biography “Paul-Émile Victor, I have always lived tomorrow” – Éric Tabarly Prize 2016 – directs films such as R97 La Jeanne – Ultime Embarquement – and publishes his surveys in Géo Magazine or Le Figaro.
Like every year, the Festival offers films out of competition to broaden horizons. For this 24th edition, local adventurers and athletes present us: Vélocia, a documentary by journalist and mountain biker Lucy Paltz on the position of women in the world of cycling, as well as films by our downhill athlete Léo Taillefer on skis or in the airs. Paraglider Maxence Cavalade will offer a teaser of his freefly challenge. The creations will be presented on the occasion of official evenings and available on the Festival website.
Many other surprises await you live on our social networks during the Festival. Stay connected …
