In 2024, with Ukrainian soldiers having recaptured much of the territory that Russia had occupied for a few weeks at the start of the conflict, Igor, a Ukrainian filmmaker and cyclist, asks Sebastian, a German friend, if he would like to join him on a charity ride along the front line. The two set off to interview witnesses to the violence of this war that dare not speak its name.
Throughout their journey, they have deeply moving encounters and reflect on their own experiences and the difficulty of being mere witnesses to events that are beyond their control.
It is also a story of friendship between a Ukrainian and a German – two peoples who were torn apart 80 years ago and who, by all accounts, should be at odds today, yet who, through this story, demonstrate the absurdity of hatred and conflict.
